14 Months!!!

I can hardly believe it's been fourteen months since my precious baby made her grand entrance into our world! Being Kate's mom is my greatest privilege and the joy that she brings to my life is truly beyond measure. Happy birthday, Kate! I love you!

Ahoy Mate!

Uncle Ted, Aunt Annie, Abby & Barrett came up to visit a couple of weeks ago. While they were here, Ted, Annie and I took Kate and Abby on their very first boat ride! We caught the water taxi in Old Town and went across the Potomac River to have lunch at National Harbor. Everyone had a blast! Thanks so much for coming to visit!

Ted & Abby relaxing while we waited for the boat to arrive for our return trip home.
We were about half an hour early... or maybe it was half an hour late... for the boat.
(It's a long story.)
But, in any event, we had a little while to wait!
Kate ADORES her cousin Abby!
Can you blame her???

Our handsome nephew!
Barrett, we promise to take you on a boat ride
when you're just a little older!

Ready to Learn!

Kate is adapting so well to her preschool!
By the third day,
Kate decided she didn't want to be carried to her classroom.
She wanted to walk on her own
with her backpack on her back...
...you know...
like a BIG girl.
GULP!
She's already made a little friend,
loves her teacher,
is picking up new words, and
brings home cute art projects!
What more could a Mom want from one-year old preschool???
Walking through the school like a big girl!

Check out this expression!

Kate and Miss Daisy Go to School

Kate and Miss Daisy began their formal education on Tuesday!
We started Kate in a one-year old pre-school program at
First Baptist Church in Alexandria...
and the school graciously enrolled Miss Daisy as well!
(Whew!)
Kate was a little sad when I dropped her off
but she got comfortable pretty quickly
and ended up having a great time!
Kate's teacher reported that she enjoyed playing with the other kids
and exploring new toys.
She even took a nap on her little mat.
I was shocked!
We are exceedingly proud of our little girl!
Rachel packed the first of hundreds (maybe thousands?) of George family school lunches.
(Anybody have suggestions for toddler finger foods to send in Kate's lunchbox?)

First Annual "First Day of School" Ice Cream Trip!
Unfortunately, the Dairy Godmother (our favorite local spot) was closed...
so Baskin-Robbins it had to be!
As you can see, Kate didn't mind one bit.
This one is for my Mom - who wanted to see the back of Kate's new haircut.
I call it a "bob in progress"
because the back is cute but the front still needs to fill out a bit!
First school paper on the fridge!
(And, yes, I realize that I really need to de-clutter my fridge!)

First Haircut

We took Kate for her first haircut on Sunday afternoon.
She did such a good job sitting still!
As most of you know, I'm not a very sentimental person...
so I was really surprised when my eyes filled with tears.
I'm just so proud of my little girl!
She's growing up so fast.

Go Bulldogs!!!

Labor Day has come and gone,
which means that the SEC football season has officially begun!
The Bulldogs are off to a bit of a rough start...
but Kate is no fair-weather fan!!!
